The reigning Honolulu Star-Advertiser defensive player of the year will continue his football career in the Mountain West Conference.

Kahuku defensive back Kekaula Kaniho made his commitment public on Sunday, tweeting that he will accept a scholarship offer from Boise State.

The Broncos were one of eight schools to offer the 6-foot-1, 170-pound Kaniho, beating out a list that included Colorado, Hawaii, Vanderbilt, Washington State and San Diego State.

Kaniho is the sixth player from the 2017 senior class from Hawaii to make a college commitment, joining Saint Louis’ Tua Tagovailoa (Alabama), Kamehameha’s Adam Stack (Oregon), Baldwin’s Mango Finau (BYU), Saint Louis’ Michael Minihan (Georgia Tech) and Kahuku’s Kesi Ah-Hoy (Hawaii),
