Kahuku’s Samuta Avea and St. Francis’ Kameron Ng were named the most outstanding players of the Division I and D-II brackets at the Snapple/HHSAA Boys Basketball State Championships.

Avea, a 6-foot-6 senior, was a key contributor in Kahuku’s rise to the first state title in school history. He had 20 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks in the title-game win over Punahou. Joining him on the all-tournament team are teammates Dan Fotu and Jessiya Villa, Zayne Chong and Cole Mausolf of Punahou, and Hugh Hogland of ‘Iolani.

Ng had 16 points and four steals in St. Francis’ 52-46 win over Kalani for the D-II title. His teammate, Boris Vukovic, also was picked to the D-II all-tourney team, along with Kalani’s Jaemi Harris and Micah Kawano, Peter Konohia of Seabury Hall and Jerry Lawson of Le Jardin.
