Straight From The Bush: 2021 OL Suamataia Firmly On The Radar
MISSION VIEJO, Calif. -- Despite having just kicked off his high school career, class of 2021 offensive lineman Kingsley Suamataia holds two offers and is raising eyebrows...
[Kingsley is the son of Tamara "Tita" Ah You from the class of 1992]
Kingsley Suamataia has four high school games under his belt and already holds a pair of scholarship offers.
The massive freshman offensive guard from Orem, Utah, picked up offers from Brigham Young and Utah State before ever taking a high school snap, and those two programs figure to only be the start with loads of time remaining.
Suamataia, a 6-foot-4, 265-pound prospect who has a basketball background, has also been garnering very early looks from the likes of California, Penn State, UCLA, USC and Utah, with the Utes having just attended his game last week to take a closer look. He is an athletic lineman with good size and tremendous upside.
"I know I've got to keep working hard because it pays off," Suamataia told Scout.com. "Having played a lot of basketball has helped me out. I can move my feet well, I can move side to side.
"I did some camps this past offseason and it helped me a lot. I got to work with coaches that know what they're talking about and it was good to get that work in."
Aside from camping with Utah, Suamataia has also been around the BYU program and the connection there is strong, even though the recruiting process has just started.
"That was one of the greatest blessings I ever received," Suamataia said. "BYU is a great school and I just love coach Kalani (Sitake). He has told me to respect my parents and family is a big deal there. Utah State was the most recent offer and we're planning to get out there for a game soon.
"Right now I'm just taking everything slow and step by step. I'm just listening to my parents and following their lead on things."
