Kahuku, Mililani, Hawaii Baptist finish in Top 10


With solid showings in the state tournament, three teams — Kahuku, Hawaii Baptist and Mililani — jumped into the Honolulu Star-Advertiser girls volleyball Top 10 final rankings released Monday.

Kahuku (13-6), which had an up-and-down regular season and won the third-place Division I match over league rival Kapolei, checked in at No. 7.

Hawaii Baptist (13-5) moved into the No. 9 slot by making the D-II final, where the Eagles lost in four sets to Le Jardin.

Mililani (13-3) stepped into the Top 10 at No. 10, finishing fifth in D-I after a third-place showing in the Oahu Interscholastic Association playoffs.

The other Top 10 teams are: No. 1 Kamehameha (state Division I champion, 13-2), No. 2 ‘Iolani (state D-I runner-up, 9-8), No. 3 Punahou (Interscholastic League of Honolulu third place, 5-7), No. 4 Maryknoll (ILH fourth place, 4-8), No. 5 Kapolei (OIA D-I second place, state D-I fourth place, 14-3), No. 6 Le Jardin (state D-II champion, 16-1) and No. 8 Moanalua (OIA D-I champion, state D-I sixth place, 15-2).
