Update on Sol-Jay Maiava's recruitment to Oregon
2020 Dual-Threat QB Maiava
On November 7, 2017 eDuck.com spoke with Sol-Jay Maiava, 6-0.5, 170 pound 2020 dual-threat quarterback from Kahuku High School in Kahuku, Hawaii. Maiava has recently received a verbal offer from Oregon.
Congratulations on the offer from Oregon.
SJM: Thank you! Appreciate the support.
How many offers do you currently have?
SJM: I have five (5), Michigan, Fresno State, Utah, Hawaii and now Oregon.
Is your season still going?
SJM: Yes, semifinals with St. Louis, Mililani, and Waianae.
Nice, good luck this week. You visited Eugene over the summer how was it?
SJM: Yes, the visit this summer was awesome! Of course, their facilities are unreal! I got to talk a lot with the coaches and the camp was fun!
Has Coach (David) Kelly been your main recruiter? How do you feel about the Ducks at this point in your recruitment?
SJM: Yes, I have talked to Coach Kelly a lot, as well as Coach (Joe) Salave’a and Coach Marcus (Arroyo).
Being a sophomore you have plenty of time, do you enjoy the recruitment process and will wait to LOI to announce a team, or do you feel that you would like to commit earlier in the process?
SJM: I have just been patient with the recruiting and just controlling what I can control.
Do you like it?
SJM: Yeah I do, it is exciting. I really just do what I have been doing and let the recruiting take care of itself and I just let my actions in the classroom and on the football field speak for itself. Just try to do all the right things and stay focused. I am just trusting the process, and hopefully when the time comes it will be an easy decision to name a school, but I am definitely honored and excited about Oregon.
Very cool, again congrats on offer, good luck in this week game!
