Polian has Top100 offensive lineman keeping an eye on Notre Dame
Kahuku (Hawaii) high school four-star offensive tackle Enokk Vimahi is one of the top players from the class of 2019. He talks about his interest in Notre Dame.
The 6-5, 290-pounder has an offer list that includes Florida, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Oregon, UCLA, USC and many others.
Notre Dame jumped into the mix with an offer on Feb. 25.
“I was at church at the time and I got a text that I should call coach Polian,” said Vimahi, thinking back about the offer. “So, I walked outside and spoke with him and when he offered, I was very excited.”
Special teams coordinator Brian Polian has been recruiting the state of Hawaii for a long time. His connections there have allowed the Fighting Irish to land some top talent from the state.
“He has been checking up with me at school and sending edits during the holidays,” said Vimahi. “That made me feel like a priority. Coach has been interested in island boys since the start of the pipeline here. He loves the way we do things out here and loves the intensity we play with. He lets us know that, which makes us feel like family.”
Vimahi is still learning about Notre Dame. He’s constantly researching all of his top programs, which includes watching games on Saturday.
“Watching the games was always beneficial for me,” said Vimahi of the Irish. “Watching the offensive line and how great they function as a whole was amazing to watch.
“I don’t know when I will visit, but I would love to visit and see the business building, as that is what I want to study,” he added.
Vimahi doesn’t have a top group at this point. He’s looking to take some spring visits, follow that up with more in the summer, and then potentially take official visits in the fall. A decision will come on or near National Signing Day in February.
“In a school, I look for the great business school, great atmosphere, great attitudes from the student-athletes, and a spot on the field that is the best for me,” said Vimahi.
Per the 247Sports Composite Rankings, Vimahi is the No. 99 overall player nationally, No. 14 offensive tackle in the country and No. 3 prospect in Hawaii from the class of 2019.
According to 247Sports standalone rankings, he is the No. 32 player in the country, No. 5 offensive tackle in the land and No. 2 recruit in Hawaii.
