Another Girls Water Polo season, another OIA Championship

Like the title says: Another Girls Water Polo season, another OIA Championship!

After faltering in the regular season . . . our Red Raider ladies left no doubt in defeating Kaiser in the OIA Championship match! With this championship win the program has won 14 of the possible 15 OIA titles. Basically only losing 1 title in the recognized history of the sport.

The HHSAA State Championship tournament begins on Monday. So the question is - is this the year they finally break through for a state championship? If it is, it'll be a tough road. Although Kahuku has a 1st round bye they will have to play the winner of the Moanalua vs. KS-Kapalama match. The likely winner of that match, with no disrespect to Moanalua, would be the Lady Warriors. Then Kahuku would have to play them next Thursday @ KS-Kapalama's home pool. Not to mention # 2 seeded Baldwin is also on this side of the bracket. That's a tall task.

Our Red Raider ladies also have history to keep up with in the state tournament. They have made the semi-finals every year that this tournament has been in existence. But like I alluded to earlier, tough bracket!

Then again, I believe Kahuku's regular season loss might be a blessing in disguise at this very juncture as they begin the post season. The loss proved pivotal in their rematch with Kaiser. If they can keep up that urgency displayed in the OIA Championship it is definitely within the capabilities of this Kahuku team to make that historic run!

2018 HHSAA Girls Water Polo State Champions sure sounds good to me!

See it! Be it!
