USC Recruiting: USC makes Top 8 for four-star OT Vimahi

The Trojans remain in the hunt for four-star Kahuku (HI) offensive tackle Enokk Vimahi, making the lineman's top eight schools list on Wednesday. Vimahi also included UCLA, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Washington, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Virginia.

The most significant program left off was Utah, where Vimahi's brother plays. The Utes led in the Crystal Ball projections at 100 percent (two picks). Vimahi also cut out programs like Oregon, Tennessee, Arkansas, Florida, Cal, Missouri and Arizona State. The 6-foot-5 Hawaii native is rated the No. 91 overall prospect in the 2019 class and the No. 13 offensive tackle. He is much higher in the eyes of the 247Sports rankings, No. 39 overall and the No. 5 offensive tackle.

"Thank you to all the coaches who believed in me and supported me through this process. List is subject to change but this is my Top 8! Please respect my decision," wrote Vimahi on his social media.

Vimahi recently competed to at The Opening Finals 2018, playing both tackle and interior spots. He was one of the top performers from Day 1 out of the West Coast:

"Vimahi played both guard and tackle on Monday and looked pretty good at both spots," wrote 247Sports recruiting analyst Brandon Huffman. "He's a natural tackle, with length and athleticism to play out there, but he has the strength to play inside and handle defensive linemen. His versatility has been a strength for him this week."

The 6-foot-5 OT has been to USC a couple times over the last two years, first visiting as a sophomore for a camp. Offensive line coach Neil Callaway and linebackers coach Johnny Nansen, who recruits Hawaii for USC, have been his primary recruiters. The Trojans are in the market for a significant offensive line haul in 2019; the only offensive lineman currently committed is the 6-foot-6 four-star tackle Jason Rodriguez. USC is also involved with four-star Harbor City (Calif.) OT Jonah Tauanu'u and four-star San Juan Capistrano (Calif.) OT Sean Rhyan.

USC currently has a eight-man recruiting class in 2019, led by Rodriguez, three-star QB Kedon Slovis, four-star wide receiver Puka Nacua and four-star wide receiver Drake London, who committed last Wednesday. The rest of the class is made up of three-star wide receiver Munir McClain, three-star cornerback Trey Davis, three-star lineman Gino Quinones and three-star inside linebacker Stanley Taufoou. It is currently ranked No. 48 in the nation and No. 4 in the Pac-12.
