Sao earns CCAC Defensive Player of the Week honors
BANNOCKBURN, Ill. --- Trojans senior defensive specialist Penina Sao has been named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the league on Tuesday. Sao, a native of Hauula, Hawaii, and product of Kahuku High School, has been a large staple in TIU's defense, which has been critical in helping the Trojans begin the season with an 11-5 record. She recorded double-digits figures in defensive digs in four matches last week, including 35 in the Trojan's five set thriller against Shawnee State at the Ohio Christian Tournament over the weekend. Sao and the Trojans return to action on Tuesday, September 24 on the road as they take on the Governors State Jaguars at 7:00 PM in University Park.
