SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Pac-12 Conference has named Utah Utes defensive end Bradlee Anae as the Defensive Player of the Week.
Along with that honor, Anae was also named Pac-12 Defensive Lineman of the Week for his strong performance against the Arizona State Sun Devils.
The only other Utah player in consideration for any of the weekly awards was running back Zack Moss, who was nominated for the Offensive Player of the Week.
It is the first time in Anae’s career that he has received Pac-12 Player of the Week honors. He picked up three sacks and had a pass deflection in Utah’s 21-3 win over the Arizona State Sun Devils. Anae has seven sacks on the season, which ranks second in the Pac-12 behind Oregon State’s Hamilcar Rashed, who has nine sacks.
He has 24 career sacks and is ranked third among active players in the FBS and is in seventh place in school history. Utah’s defense as a whole held the Sun Devils to 136 yards of total offense (25 passing, 111 rushing) and snapped a 125-game streak of scoring 10 points or more in a game as well as a 140-game streak of scoring at least seven points in a game.
Utah will face the Cal Bears on Saturday at 8 p.m. at Rice-Eccles Stadium. The game will be televised on FS1.
