Straight From The Bush: "Hawaii Grown notebook: Alo leads the nation in homers"

Jocelyn Alo was held to three hits in a three-game sweep of Texas over the weekend.

The only problem for the Longhorns was that those hits were all home runs.

The Oklahoma freshman and 2017 Campbell alumna leads the country with 23 home runs after hitting two solo shots in a 5-4 win over Texas in eight innings on Sunday.

Alo homered in the top of the fourth inning to cut the Texas lead to 2-1 and led off the bottom of the eighth with another solo shot to tie the game 4-4 after Texas scored once in the top of the inning.

The Sooners eventually won on a walk-off single to improve to 44-3 overall and remain undefeated in the Big 12 at 15-0.

Oklahoma received a first-place vote and is ranked third in the country in the USA Today/NFCA Coaches Top 25 this week.

Alo ranks 27th in the country hitting .427 and is 11th with an on-base percentage of .548.

She’s also fifth in the nation and leads the conference with 58 RBIs and is second to Kent State’s Holly Speers with a 1.008 slugging percentage.

The Sooners have three games against Oklahoma State this week before playing in the Big 12 tournament that starts May 11.
