Three-star 2020 LB Ace Kaufusi drawing interest from several
Kahuku (Hawaii) 2020 linebacker Ace Kaufusi (6-3, 185), has one offer under his belt as he prepares for a big offseason.
BYU, where he has several family ties, offered Kaufusi last summer.
"I have a lot of cousins and uncles that have played there so BYU is definitely a school I like," said Kaufusi. "They offered me as an outside linebacker."
Kaufusi visited BYU during the summer for an unofficial and said it left a major impression.
"My unofficial visit to BYU was amazing," said Kaufusi. "I loved it there. Coach Ed Lamb and Coach Kalani Sitake are the two main ones recruiting me there."
Kaufusi is LDS and said he's already certain when he plans to serve his mission.
"I will do it right out of high school and serve my mission and then be back in 2022," said Kaufusi.
Kaufusi said that BYU stands out but he's also looking to land some Pac-12 offers.
"Utah and UCLA are two schools I really like and I've heard from them," said Kaufusi. "They both came by the school and have been showing a lot of interest in me. Coach (Lewis) Powell has been recruiting me at Utah and at UCLA, it has been a bunch of the coaches."
Kaufusi said he plans to check out both schools in the spring.
"I know I want to get out to Utah and to UCLA in the spring and I think I'd like to get out to USC and to Stanford too because that is a nice school I'm interested in," said Kaufusi.
Kaufusi said he's also working on his camp plans for the spring too.
"I know I will go to All-Poly Camp and then I hope to go to The Opening Regional and maybe some other camps," said Kaufusi. "I am also going to play 7v7 with Hukilau Cafe and 808 Elite."
A three-star by 247Sports, Kaufusi is ranked as the No. 14 prospect in Hawaii in the 2020 class.
